Benchmade Griptilian Tanto Knife

For one, this is a folding Tanto knife. It has a great locking system which keeps it secure whenever you fold out the blade. At the same time, it has a button so you can easily fold it back into place. It’s a convenient option thanks to this, plus it is very lightweight. It can easily fit in any pocket when folded. It features a pocket clip so you can clip it onto your belt for fast access.

The handle is made of super tough materials, but it also designed to look nice, as well as to be ergonomically friendly. Although it is a comfortable handle, it does not provide the best grip in the world. The blade itself is made with 154CM stainless steel, so in other words, it is very hard and durable, it won’t rust, and it keeps its edge very well too.

This is actually a folding Tanto knife, but still a nice, durable, sharp, and fairly affordable option to go with. It certainly looks like the real deal.

Pros

  • Comfortable to hold
  • Lightweight and folding
  • Easy to carry
  • Very sharp and durable blade
  • Keeps its edge for a long time

Cons

  • Not the best grip
  • Hard to clean

Benchmade Griptilian Tanto Knife Summary:

  • Can remain sharp for so long
  • Durable and strong blades
  • Lightweight materials
  • Folding design

Warrior’s Redemption Fixed Blade Tanto

This is probably one of the more affordable fixed-blade Tanto knives on our list today. It is very affordable, which is nice but do keep in mind that this does limit its features and durability a little bit. To put it simply – you get what you pay for. With that being said, for the low price, it is actually quite impressive that it is as durable and useful as it is.

The Warrior’s Redemption Fixed Blade Tanto features 440 stainless steel, which is pretty tough. No, it’s not the toughest or most resilient in the world, but for occasional and basic use, it is just fine. It comes with a nice looking handle, one that does have decent grip, and is ergonomically friendly, although it is not all that durable. The Warrior’s Redemption Fixed Blade Tanto comes with a decent sheath and a glass breaker.

This might be a very inexpensive and basic-looking fixed-blade Tanto knife, but it does look nice and it works well for your basic needs

Pros

  • Decent-quality stainless steel
  • Easy to clean
  • Looks very nice
  • Comfortable to hold

Cons

  • Not the best edge
  • Not the most durable

Warrior’s Redemption Fixed Blade Tanto Summary:

  • Aesthetics-wise
  • Comfortable to wield
  • Low-maintenance
  • Normal-quality steel

SOG Growl Tanto Blade

The SOG Growl Tanto Blade features a 3.6-inch 9Cr18MoV stainless steel blade that is multi-faceted. In other words, it comes with a very nice blade, one that is very tough, resistant to rust, and should keep its edge for a long time to come. With that being said, the blade is fairly short, but bigger is not always better.

The SOG Growl Tanto Blade comes with a glass-reinforced nylon handle. This handle is very tough indeed, not to mention that it looks super cool. It also features an ergonomic design and superior grip pattern to make it very easy to hold. It also comes with a nice little sheath as well.

This is a moderately priced Tanto knife, one that looks super nice, has a good edge, and a decent level of durability.

Pros

  • Easy to access
  • Very nice looking
  • High overall durability
  • Comfortable to hold with good grip

Cons

  • Hard to clean handle
  • Very short blade

  • Aesthetically pleasing
  • Sharp edge

Kershaw Snap On Tanto Fixed Blade Knife

The Kershaw Snap-On Tanto Fixed Blade Knife features a 6 1/2″ composite CPM-D2 center, making it very sharp. This knife’s blade is very easy to sharpen, it is resistant to chipping and corrosion, and it is super sharp with a long-lasting edge.

With that being said, this is a good Tanto knife for cooking and other small tasks, but the blade is quite thin and a little fragile, so it is not ideal for heavier tasks. The handle is made of anodized aluminum, which is durable and good-looking, but it does not have the best grip.

This is a slightly more expensive option to go with, although a very durable and nice-looking one.

Pros

  • Very sharp
  • Easy to sharpen
  • Very good looking
  • High-quality handle
  • Ergonomic design

Cons

  • Not ideal for heavier tasks
  • Blade is slightly brittle
  • Does not have the best grip

Kershaw Snap On Tanto Fixed Blade Knife Summary:

  • Ergonomic handle
  • Good and strong grip
  • Sharp and elegant looking
  • Strong and easy to maintain

Survivor Series Fixed Blade Tanto

These are full-tang fixed blade Tanto knives. What is, of course, nice is that you get 2 of them in 1 pack. These knives have fairly high-quality blades, ones that should not snap or rust, plus they keep their edge for a long time. However, they do not have the longest blades, in fact, they are quite short. They have a cord wrapped around the handle to provide some grip, which is nice, but the cords are not the most durable. The nylon sheaths are nice additions, although also not very durable.

This is a very inexpensive pack of 2 Tanto knives. They are very basic, but this makes them good for basic jobs.

Pros

  • Set of 2
  • Very affordable
  • Good for basic needs
  • Fairly sharp

Cons

  • Short blades
  • Limited durability
  • Not the best handles

Survivor Series Fixed Blade Tanto Summary:

  • Extremely strong and sharp
  • Basic cutting requirements
  • Affordable - 2 pieces
  • Nylon sheaths

Conclusion

If you want a very nice Tanto knife, one with a high level of durability and functionality, we would recommend the SOG Growl Tanto Blade. If you want something that is ideal for the kitchen, the Kershaw Snap On Tanto Fixed Blade Knife is a good option to keep in mind.
